Mid-Atlantic Memorial Day Weekend: The Tale of the Kenda Three
May 29th, 2007 | By Team Kenda Tire | Categories: Race Reports, Race ResultsReport by: Marni Harker, Heidi Goldberg & Marjan Huizing
Here’s the tale of the Kenda three
Namely Marjan, Heidi and Marni
Saturday they raced Bike Jam in Baltimore
Before heading to the Somerville Tour
Not one, but both were NRC
Six strong legs with high energy
Saturday:
Bike Jam was a 1M loop
Listen up now, here is the scoop:
While chilling at the Lipton bus
They saw Chris racing 50+
Then time to go to the start line “Stat!”
Oh crap, Marni has a flat!
It must have been 90 degrees
Can this race soon be over, please?
Up the road they kept trying to go
But the field was always in tow
2 laps to go, we’re all in pain
Laura v Gilder wins again!
In 14th and 15th came the Kenda train
But no Marni, Oh No! she dropped her chain!
Sunday:
If we can’t beat them, we feed them!
DC Kenda hosted the Lipton Team
An easy women’s ride – no primes!
Chef Heidi cooked a nutritious brunch
To prepare for the next day’s crunch
Monday:
Of to Somerville, three Kendas went
To race this historic event
On the night before this hard race
They stayed at Heidi’s cousin Seth’s place
The course was quite fast & flat & wide
“Hold Tight” for a wild ride!
Three Kendas were in the pack
Two up front, one in the back
Who knew a crash would occur?
2 laps to go, sucks for Marni girl
Last corner, a screeching sound
Oh no! Heidi’s on the ground
And Marjan with a sprinting face
Accelerates to 11th place!
This ends the Tale of the Kenda Three
Next week, stay tuned for CSC!
The end
